In my experience I have heard more sermons on the principles of life contained in the Word than the glorious person of Jesus who gives life to those principles.
‘Your best life now’ / ‘How to live successfully …’ / Six steps to overcoming this or that…’ and so it goes.
Of course, if you loosely hoping that things will ‘magically’ drop into place, then you are probably already disappointed.
Yet when Jesus becomes the centerpiece of your obsession, then all else falls into place. When we rightly divide the truth of God’s Word we place Jesus at the center, for it is He alone who upholds all things by His power.
Colossians 1:17
And he is before all things, and by him all things are held together.
That’s ‘all things’ including the principles or system that you may have been trusting in. Our faith is in God, the person of Jesus our savior, and not in a set of things to do. These may follow as a natural fruit of aour relationship with HIm, but the beginning is always a personal trust.
His person defines and directs any principle.
